One model stands apart. The 3.8 liter is evaporative rather than ultrasonic, meaning it draws air through a wetted filter instead of vibrating water into a mist. It cannot produce white dust on furniture and it will not over-humidify a room, but it uses replaceable air and water filters, which is why it costs considerably more than the rest.
